• Wash your hands before and after applying the cream to avoid worsening your cold sore or passing the infection on to someone else.
• If you develop an ulcer, do not touch it more than necessary to avoid spreading the infection to other areas of your body or to your eyes.

• Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor if you are not sure.
• For external use only.
• Do not use more than the recommended amount.
• Adults and young people aged 12 years and over
  • Apply the cream 5 times a day for 5 days (i.e., approximately every 3-4 hours while you are awake). It is recommended to begin treatment as soon as possible, preferably at the first signs or symptoms (e.g., tingling, redness, or itching).

• Duration of application
  • Do not use for longer than 5 days. Consult your doctor if your symptoms persist 5 days after the end of treatment.

• If you have applied a larger amount than you should
  • If you accidentally apply too much cream or swallow some, it is unlikely that any adverse effects will occur. However, if you have swallowed a large amount of cream, please consult your doctor.

• If you forgot to use the application
  • Apply the cream as soon as you remember, and continue with the application as usual.

• This medicine contains two active ingredients: acyclovir and hydrocortisone. Acyclovir is an antiviral drug that helps fight the virus that causes cold sores. Hydrocortisone is a mild steroid that reduces the inflammation associated with cold sores.
• This cream is used to treat early signs and symptoms (e.g., tingling, itching, or redness) of cold sores on the lips and the skin near the lips, in order to reduce the risk of the cold sore reaching the blister stage. It can be used by adults and adolescents (12 years or older).
• Should your cold sore develop into a blister, the medication will shorten the healing process by approximately half a day to a day compared to creams without active ingredients.
• A cold sore is caused by the herpes simplex virus. The virus causes blisters and sores, primarily on the lips, but sometimes also on other parts of the face. A cold sore can develop when the body's immune system is weakened, for example, if you have a cold or another infection. Stress, strong sunlight, cold temperatures, or menstruation can also trigger a cold sore.
• Consult your doctor if your symptoms persist 5 days after the end of treatment.

How do the ingredients in the medication work?

The medication contains a combination of the active ingredients aciclovir and hydrocortisone. Aciclovir fights certain viruses by damaging their genetic material and thus inhibiting their replication. It is particularly effective against herpes viruses. This can stop a herpes infection, for example, on the lips. Hydrocortisone has an anti-inflammatory effect.
