Duration of use?
You should not use the medicine for longer than 1 week without medical advice. You should see your doctor if you have persistent or recurring symptoms.

Overdose can cause heartburn or an increased tendency to bleed. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.

Forgot to take?
Continue taking it as normal (i.e. not double the amount) at the next prescribed time.

How does the ingredient in the drug work?

The ingredients come from the ginger plant and act as a natural mixture. About the plant itself:

- Appearance: perennial, reed-like plant about 1 m high, whose large, long, narrow leaves develop from the rootstock, tiny flowers stand in spikes
- Occurrence: Southeast Asia
- Main ingredients: essential oils (camphene, neral, geranial), gingerols, zingiberene, turmeric
- plant parts and preparations used: mainly root extracts
Ginger extracts inhibit the growth of bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites and thus have a good anti-inflammatory effect. In addition, they have a digestive effect. The gingerols reliably suppress vomiting and nausea.

Contraindications:

- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients

Under certain circumstances - talk to your doctor or pharmacist about this:
- Gallstone disease
- Upcoming major surgery

Which age group should be considered?
- Children under 6 years of age: The medicine should not normally be used in this age group.

What about pregnancy and lactation?
- Pregnancy: According to current knowledge, the drug should not be used.
- Breast-feeding: According to current knowledge, it is not recommended to use it. You may be to consider a weaning.

If you have been prescribed the drug despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit can be higher than the risk that the use involves in the event of a contraindication.

What should you consider?
- Beware of allergies to spices, essential oils and turpentine oil!
- Be careful if you are allergic to parabens, e.g. preservatives (E number E 214 - E 219) or as plant ingredients!
- Be careful if you are allergic to phenol (e.g. pyrogallol, triclosan and vanillin)!
- Beware of allergies to cinnamon, birch, poplar buds, propolis, valerian, turmeric and rosin!
- Beware of allergies to dyes (e.g. indigo carmine with the E number E 132)!
- There may be medicines with which interactions occur. You should therefore generally tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicine you are already using before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.

  • The following information applies unless your doctor has prescribed the drug differently for you. Please follow the instructions for use, otherwise the drug will not work properly!
  • How often and how much should you take the medicine?
    • Adults and children over 6 years of age take 2 hard capsules half an hour before departure and then 2 hard capsules every 4 hours with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of water) without chewing.
    • No more than 10 capsules should be taken per day.

 

  • How long should you take the medicine?
    • The duration of the application is not limited in principle. However, please note the information in the "Patient information" category.

 

  • What to do if the preparation is taken in too large quantities (deliberate or accidental overdose)?
    • If too large amounts of the drug are taken, an influence on blood clotting with an increased tendency to bleed cannot be ruled out. Please notify a doctor. This person can decide on any necessary measures.
    • The side effects listed in the "Side effects" category may also occur more frequently.

 

  • What do you have to consider if you took too little or missed a dose?
    • If you have taken too little of the medicine or have forgotten to take a dose, next time do not take about a double dose, but continue to take it as directed by your doctor or as described above.

  • Cases of heartburn have occurred with the use of medicinal products containing ginger.
  • Skin and respiratory tract hypersensitivity reactions have been reported following direct contact with medicinal products containing ginger.
  • There are no specific studies available on the frequency of these possible side effects.
  • If you notice any side effects that are not listed, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
  • What countermeasures should be taken in the event of side effects?
    • If you observe any of the side effects mentioned, inform a doctor so that he can decide on the degree of severity and any measures that may be necessary.
    • At the first sign of a hypersensitivity reaction, the capsules should not be taken again.

  • Which other medicines influence the effect of the preparation or are their effects influenced by the preparation?
    • It cannot be ruled out that the effect of anticoagulants is increased.
    • The drug can increase the absorption of sulfaguanidine.

Contraindications

  • When should you not take the medicine?
    • Known hypersensitivity to ginger rhizome powder and/or any of the other ingredients of the drug.

pregnancy and breast feeding period

  • There are no adequate studies on the use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Clinical studies have not provided any evidence of malformations after short-term use. Insufficient data are available for chronic use.
  • The drug should therefore not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

  • Precautions for use and warnings
    • When can you only take the medicine after consulting your doctor?
      • For gallstone disease.
    • What precautions should be taken?
      • As with all unclear symptoms, a doctor should be consulted if pathological symptoms occur, especially if they last longer than a week or recur regularly.
      • Since it cannot be ruled out that preparations containing ginger rhizome increase the tendency to bleed, this drug must be discontinued before an operation. Please inform your doctor in good time, who will decide how to proceed.
      • If you are taking anticoagulant drugs of the coumarin type (phenprocoumon and warfarin) at the same time, you should consult a doctor before taking the drug, as the dosage of these drugs may need to be adjusted (see Interactions). Therefore, if the drug is taken at the same time, the coagulation parameters should be monitored closely for up to 14 days after the drug has been discontinued.
      • Since the preparation can increase the absorption of sulfaguanidine, these two drugs must not be used at the same time.
    • What to consider with children
      • There is insufficient experience with the use of the drug in children under the age of 6 years. It should therefore not be used in children under 6 years of age.
