  • Herbal medicine for vein diseases.
  • The medicine is used in adults to treat symptoms of leg vein diseases (chronic venous insufficiency), for example pain and a feeling of heaviness in the legs, night cramps in the calves, itching and swelling of the legs.

  • Always take the medicine exactly as directed. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, adults take 1 slow-release hard capsule daily in the morning and evening (equivalent to 100 mg aescin).

 

  • Duration of use:
    • Long-term treatment is possible after consulting your doctor. If the symptoms do not improve within 4 weeks of taking the medicine, you should consult a doctor, as leg swelling can also have other causes.
    • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak.

 

  • If you take more than you should:
    • If overdosed, the saponins contained in horse chestnut seed extract can intensify the symptom of nausea, which is a known side effect. Vomiting and diarrhea are also possible.
    • A doctor should be consulted to decide whether countermeasures are necessary.

 

  • If you forget to take a dose:
    • Do not take a double dose, but continue to take it as directed or as directed by your doctor.

 

  • If you stop taking:
    • Interrupting or prematurely ending treatment is usually harmless. If in doubt, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

  • When taken with other medicines:
    • The effect of anticoagulant drugs can be increased.

Contraindications

  • The medicine must not be taken
    • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to horse chestnut seed extract or any of the other ingredients.

  • The drug must not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as there are insufficient studies.

  • Particular caution is required when ingesting
    • If you suddenly develop unusually severe symptoms, especially in one leg, which are noticeable as swelling, discoloration of the skin, a feeling of tension or heat and pain, you should see a doctor immediately. These may be signs of a serious illness (vein thrombosis) in connection with the underlying venous insufficiency. These are not due to taking the drug.
    • A doctor should also be consulted if there are signs of cardiac insufficiency or kidney dysfunction.
    • Note:
