Solgar's product is a source of plant phytosterols. Phytosterols (also called plant sterols) are structurally similar to cholesterol, which is a structural component of our cell membranes. Phytosterols play a similar role in plant cell membranes.


Plant sterols have been proven to lower/reduce blood cholesterol levels. High cholesterol is a risk factor for the development of coronary heart disease. A beneficial effect is achieved with a daily intake of 1.5-3 g of plant sterols. There are many risk factors for high cholesterol. Changing one of them may or may not have a beneficial effect. This product is not intended for individuals who do not need to monitor their blood cholesterol levels. Avoid consuming more than 3 g of plant sterol supplements daily.
