  • This medicine is a povidone-iodine-containing germicidal agent (antiseptic) for antimicrobial skin and wound treatment.
  • It is intended for repeated, short-term use as an antiseptic on damaged skin, such as decubitus (pressure sores), leg ulcers, superficial wounds and burns, infected and superinfected skin diseases.

How does the active ingredient in the medication work?

Iodine is bound to carrier substances and used to reduce germs (disinfect) and to support wound healing. Iodine is effective against a wide variety of pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

  • For external use
  • Depending on the size of the area to be treated, the ointment is applied several times a day as needed.
  • For local, antiseptic-therapeutic application, the affected areas are completely coated.
  • Always use this product exactly as directed. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Depending on the size of the area to be treated, the ointment is applied several times a day as needed.
  • At the start of treatment for severely inflamed or weeping wounds, the ointment should be reapplied every 4-6 hours to maintain optimal microbicidal effect.
  • The ointment can remain on the wound for an extended period of time and should be reapplied at the latest after discoloration.
  • A notice:
    • The brown color of the ointment is a characteristic of the preparation.
    • It indicates the presence of available iodine and thus its effectiveness. If the brown coloration fades, more iodine should be applied, ensuring complete coverage of the affected areas, as the ointment has only a local antiseptic effect.

  • Duration of application
    • The duration of application of the ointment depends on the specific indication.

  • If you have applied a larger amount than you should
    • This will not harm the wound. Excess ointment outside the treated area should be removed with a clean cloth to avoid soiling clothing.
    • This preparation should only be used externally.
    • If large quantities of the ointment are accidentally ingested, medical advice should be sought immediately, as this can lead to a serious thyroid dysfunction.

  • If you forgot to use the application
    • Continue the treatment according to the specified dosage.

  • If you cancel the application
    • The wound condition may worsen.

  • If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
