Contraindications
When should you not use Melissengeist H Hofmann's®?
You must not use Melissengeist H Hofmann's® if you know that you have reacted hypersensitively to cinnamon or balsam of Peru, or to any of the other components of the preparation.
In addition, Melissengeist H Hofmann's® should not be used on damaged skin, eg burns, eczema and open wounds or skin and children's diseases with exanthema, as well as on the mucous membranes and on the eyes.

Precaution for use and warnings
What precautions must be observed?
Warning:
This medicinal product contains 80% alcohol by volume. If the dosage instructions are observed, up to 1 g of alcohol is consumed with each intake of 30 drops. There is a health risk in people with liver disease, alcoholism, epilepsy, people with brain disease and brain damage, pregnant women and children.
The effect of other drugs can be impaired or intensified.

What do you have to consider during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
You should not take Melissengeist H Hofmann's® during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as alcohol can impair the development of the child. There are no adequate studies of Melissengeist H Hofmann's® for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding or for children. For this reason, it is not recommended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding or for children under the age of 12. The furocoumarins contained in angelica root make the skin more sensitive to light and can lead to skin inflammation in connection with UV radiation. Long sunbaths should therefore be avoided while using Melissengeist H Hofmann's®. This applies in particular to skin areas that have been treated externally with Melissengeist H Hofmann's®.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist whether alcohol can affect the effects of medicines you are taking at the same time.

Dosage instructions, method and duration of use
How much of Melissengeist H Hofmann's® and how often should you take Melissengeist H Hofmann's®?
Unless otherwise prescribed, adults and children over 12 years of age take 15 - 30 drops diluted with at least twice the amount of liquid several times a day.
For external use, adults and children over the age of 12 apply Melissengeist H Hofmann's® undiluted several times and rub it in.
The preparation should not be used under final bandages and not at the same time as heat is applied.
Dosing is done by dripping into the enclosed measuring cup. 1 ml corresponds to about 20 drops.
How long should you take Melissengeist H Hofmann's®?
The duration of intake is not limited in principle, but please note the information under areas of application.

Overdosing and other application
errors What should be done if Melissengeist H Hofmann's® was taken in too large a quantity?
The effects of alcohol, especially on the ability to drive, must be taken into account.

Side effects
What side effects can occur when using Melissengeist H Hofmann's®?
As with all essential oils, after using the product, irritation of the skin and mucous membranes can occur, coughing and bronchospasm can be triggered or intensified. Contact eczema and/or hypersensitivity reactions in the gastrointestinal tract may occur.
Prolonged exposure to the sun or UV rays can also cause sunburn-like skin inflammation (see precautions for use and warnings). In these cases, the drug should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.

Notes and information on the shelf life of the drug
The expiry date is printed on the pack after "expiry date". Do not use this pack after this date.

How should Melissengeist H Hofmann's® be stored?
Melissengeist H Hofmann's® should not be stored above 25 °C.
