The
active substance of Loperamid APTEO MED is loperamide hydrochloride, a substance with antidiarrheal effects. The drug prolongs the transit time of food through the intestines, reduces the excretion of water and electrolytes, and reduces the immediate urge to defecate.
Indications
: Loperamid APTEO MED is used:
- for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over;
- for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea episodes associated with irritable bowel syndrome in adults aged 18 years and over, following an initial diagnosis by a doctor.
If you do not feel better after 2 days or if you feel worse, consult a doctor.
Use:
Loperamid APTEO MED should be used exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor. If you have any questions, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Loperamid APTEO MED should be taken orally with fluids.
Diarrhea may resolve after one dose. In such cases, the drug should not be used for longer. During diarrhea, drink more fluids than usual. This is especially important for adolescents, the elderly, and debilitated patients.
Dosage
: Acute diarrhea: Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age. The initial dose is 2 capsules (4 mg), followed by 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose bowel movement. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 6 capsules (12 mg). If, during the treatment of acute diarrhea, symptoms worsen or do not improve within 48 hours after taking Loperamide APTEO MED, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
Symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea episodes associated with irritable bowel syndrome: Adults, individuals 18 years of age and over: Initially, 2 capsules (4 mg), followed by 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool, or as directed by a doctor. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 6 capsules (12 mg). In case of repeated episodes of diarrhea in irritable bowel syndrome, Loperamide APTEO MED can be used for up to 2 weeks, but any episode of diarrhea lasting longer than 48 hours should be consulted with a doctor.
Children: Loperamide APTEO MED should not be used in children under 12 years of age or in patients with irritable bowel syndrome under 18 years of age.
Elderly: No dosage adjustment is necessary in elderly patients.
Patients with renal impairment: No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with renal impairment.
Patients with hepatic impairment: In patients with hepatic impairment, the drug should be used under medical supervision, as caution is required and close monitoring for signs of central nervous system toxicity is necessary.
