What is mct oil?

MCT oil is a dietary supplement made from medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), a type of fat that's easier to digest than the long-chain triglycerides (LCTs) found in most other foods. MCTs are digested and absorbed more quickly, and can be turned into energy by the body.
MCT oil is often distilled from coconut oil, but can also be found in cow's milk or palm kernel oil. It can also be synthetically produced and added to foods or supplements.
MCT oil is used for a variety of purposes, including:
Cooking
MCT oil can be used for cooking, frying, roasting, and stirring into wet foods.
Health
MCT oil is commonly used to manage digestive disorders and may help treat neurological disorders. Some say it can also boost metabolism and improve mental clarity.
MCTs are named for the length of their fatty acid chains, which range from 6–12 carbon atoms. The four main types of MCTs are:
Caproic acid: Has 6 carbon atoms
Caprylic acid: Has 8 carbon atoms
Capric acid: Has 10 carbon atoms
Lauric acid: Has 12 carbon atoms

benefits of mct oil:

Medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil has many potential health benefits, including:
Weight loss: MCT oil may help you feel full, which can reduce snacking and overeating. It may also boost your metabolism.
Energy: MCT oil is easily digested and converted into energy, providing a quick burst.
Athletic performance: MCT oil may enhance athletic performance.
Brain function: MCT oil may improve brain function.
Digestive health: MCT oil may help with digestive diseases.
Gut health: MCT oil may improve gut health, which can contribute to clear skin.
MCT oil is extracted from coconut or palm kernel oil. It's generally safe for moderate use, but you should start slowly and consume it within suggested limits. Most experts recommend starting with half a tablespoon and working your way up to three tablespoons per day.
MCTs are medium-length fatty acids made up of 6 to 12 carbon atoms. They're digested faster than long-chain fatty acids, which are found in most other foods.
