MEGAMAX MCT cooking oil medium-chain triglycerides
MCT cooking oil made from medium-chain triglycerides (100% MCT fat) is a dietary food for special medical purposes (balanced diet). Intended for the diet management of patients with fat absorption and fat utilization disorders, as well as in the context of the ketogenic diet and with increased energy requirements.
Medium-chain triglycerides:
MCT fats are saturated fatty acids that are found primarily in tropical vegetable fats such as palm kernel oil (around 55%) and coconut fat (around 60%). A small proportion of around 10% is also contained in milk fat. Compared to long-chain fatty acids (LCT), MCT fats have a slightly lower energy content. Pure MCT oil does not occur in nature, however. The MEGAMAX MCT cooking oil provides energy and is practically not converted into the body's own fat.
Absorption of medium-chain triglycerides:
During absorption in the small intestine, long-chain fatty acids are first split off from the glycerine portion and reassembled into triglycerides in the intestinal mucosa cell. They are then transported away via the lymphatic system. The medium-chain triglycerides are not split or emulsified by bile salts, but pass through the small intestinal mucosa cell as a whole molecule. From there they are transported to the liver via the portal vein blood. Here they are immediately available for energy production and are oxidized ("burned") in the mitochondria of the liver and muscle cells in a similar way to carbohydrates. The metabolism is therefore very different from that of normal cooking fat and cooking oil.
MCT in sports or when underweight:
In all sports where a high and long-lasting energy supply is important, the use of MCT can be useful, as it is immediately used by the body to generate energy. MCT helps prevent sudden drops in performance that can occur due to a lack of energy reserves (carbohydrates, glycogen) during long-term exercise. If you are underweight or trying to lose weight, MCT cooking oil can increase the calorie content of food and help you gain weight. Since MCT is both water-soluble and fat-soluble and tasteless, it can be added to practically all foods without any problem.
Instructions for use
The dosage must be gradually increased, preferably by teaspoon, until the intestines have become accustomed to the MCT. After a period of getting used to it, up to 120 g per day can be tolerated without any problems. For infants (premature babies), the dosage is initially given drop by drop and the amount is slowly increased until the desired dose is reached (depending on body weight). The oil is odorless and tasteless and can be mixed with water. It can also be easily stirred into food.
Recommended
consumption The daily amount of MCT varies from individual to individual and should be divided into several portions for better tolerance. Adults start with 15 ml of MCT oil, then increase by 5-10 ml daily until the desired daily amount (max. 120 ml). MCT cooking oil is tasteless and ready to eat.
Storage:
Cool and dry
Note:
Suitable for infants, children and adults. Use only under medical supervision. For enteral nutrition only. MCT oil is added to food or drinks after preparation, but should not be used for frying or baking. Not suitable as a sole diet, in cases of ketoacidosis or oxidation disorders of medium-chain fatty acids.
