Mannitol Infusion Solution 10

Composition:
1 L contains: Active ingredient:
Mannitol 100 g.

Other ingredients:
Water for injection.

Indications:
Therapy and prophylaxis of acute renal failure due to trauma or shock following a test infusion, reduction of intracranial pressure with an intact blood-brain barrier, osmotherapy for the prophylaxis and treatment of cerebral edema, glaucoma.

Contraindications:
Liguria/anuria following a test infusion, cardiac decompensation, dehydration, hyperhydration, pulmonary edema, intracranial hemorrhage, urinary
tract obstruction, elevated serum osmolarity.

Pregnancy:
There is a risk of overdose after infusion of large volumes of mannitol solution due to renal overload in late pregnancy.

Side effects:
Nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, headache, confusion, convulsions, and tachycardia may occur after rapid infusion. Thrombophlebitis may develop at the injection site. Before starting osmotherapy with mannitol, renal failure due to fluid or volume depletion must be ruled out. Other possible side effects include fluid imbalances with dehydration, electrolyte imbalances with significant electrolyte loss, pulmonary edema in patients with impaired renal function, acute renal failure, and hypersensitivity reactions up to and including anaphylactic shock.
