  • Indications for the use of Maalox are symptomatic treatment of hyperacidity disorders of the upper gastrointestinal tract: gastritis, gastric retrograde reflux.

Composition:
1 tablet contains 400 mg magnesium hydroxide and 400 mg aluminum hydroxide; Mannitol, sorbitol, sodium saccharate, mint flavor, magnesium stearate, sucrose, sucrose containing 3% starch.

Effect:
Maalox is a combination formulation containing local aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide, which neutralizes excess acid in the stomach. It protects the mucous membrane of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum by increasing the mucus layer, increasing the secretion of bicarbonates, and the growth of prostaglandin synthesis has cytoprotective effect on the gastric mucosa. Works slightly astringent and anti-inflammatory. Works locally, practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Its action is fast and long lasting.

indications:
Symptomatic treatment of upper gastrointestinal hyperacidity disorders: gastric ulcer, gastric retrograde reflux in the course of hiatal hernia, indigestion (heartburn) due to hyperacidity. Helping to treat duodenal ulcer, peptic ulcer.

Precautions:
Use caution in patients with renal failure or hemodialysis and in children under 6 years, especially dehydrated or with renal failure. Tablets contain sucrose - carefully used in patients with diabetes.

Pregnancy and lactation:
Can be used during pregnancy and lactation at recommended doses and as directed. Do not use long term.

Undesirable effects:
Possible constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, light-colored stool. After prolonged use with insufficient phosphate supply, symptoms of hypophosphataemia and renal failure (as a result of ammonium magnesium phosphate deposition), and in dialysis patients may induce or exacerbate osteomalacia and increase the risk of encephalopathy.

Dosage:
Oral: 1 tablespoon (10 ml) or sachet or 1-2 tablets. for 90 min. after a meal or in pain. Tablets should be sucked or chewed. Maximum dose - 140 ml suspension per day.
