Ringer B. Braun Irrigation Solution
Sterile and endotoxin-free

Composition:
1000 ml of solution contain: Sodium chloride 8.60 g, Potassium chloride 0.30 g, Calcium chloride dihydrate 0.33 g. In water for injection - Electrolytes in mmol/l: Sodium 147.20, Potassium 4.02, Calcium 2.24, Chloride 155.70.

Indications:
For irrigating wounds and burns, for rinsing and cleaning during surgical procedures, endoscopic examinations of body cavities, intraoperative arthroscopy with mechanical instruments, and for postoperative irrigation.

Dosage:
The amount of fluid to be used depends on the clinical conditions.

Overdosage:
An overdose of the irrigation solution during wound irrigation and intraoperative use can lead to hypervolemia in the form of hypotonic hyperhydration (hyponatremia). Symptoms of hyperhydration include headache, nausea, restlessness, and disorientation. In severe cases, a coma-like state may occur.

Countermeasures for overdose:
Discontinue irrigation, correct fluid and electrolyte balance according to the individual clinical situation.

Warnings and precautions:
Do not use for infusions. Use the solution only if the seal is intact and the solution is clear. Do not use opened containers. Discard any remaining contents. Reusing single-use equipment poses a potential risk to the patient or user. It may result in contamination and/or impaired functionality. Contamination and/or impaired functionality of the equipment may lead to injury, illness, or death of the patient. Keep out of reach of children. If there is a risk of ingesting large amounts of the solution, such as when used in large body cavities or on extensive wounds, the solution should not be used in patients in a state of hyperhydration.

Caution should be exercised when using the following:

• Hypertonic dehydration
• Hyperkalemia
• Hypernatremia
• Hyperchloremia
• Renal insufficiency with a tendency towards hyperkalemia,
• Diseases where restricted sodium intake is indicated, e.g., heart failure, generalized edema, pulmonary edema, hypertension, eclampsia, severe renal insufficiency.

Monitoring should include checks of serum electrolytes and fluid balance. Ringer B. Braun must not be used for intrathecal lavage.

Side effects:
None known.

Expiry date:
The solution must not be used after the expiry date printed on the label.
