Intended Use
This sterile, heparinized, and pyrogen-free saline solution is indicated for flushing catheters, venous
access devices, and the tubing systems of extracorporeal dialysis circuits—used for intermittent
intravenous administration or infusion therapy, as well as during repeated blood sampling.
Heparinized physiological solution is used in protocols for washing, flushing, and maintaining
lumen patency to prevent the formation of blood clots and fibrin, and to keep the catheter clean,
free of clots, and functional. Use is restricted to qualified medical personnel.
Composition
1 ml of sterile, heparinized, pyrogen-free saline solution (S.A.L.F.) contains: Heparin sodium 100 IU,
sodium chloride 9 mg, water for injections q.s.
