  • The preparation is a herbal medicinal product for use as an expectorant in productive cough.

Expectorant cough, BRONCHOFIT ivy cough syrup dosage

  • Always take this medicine exactly as described or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • The recommended dose for adults is 1.8 ml 3 times a day (equivalent to 306 mg of ivy leaves per day).
  • Use in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age
    • The recommended dose is 1.8 ml 3 times a day (equivalent to 306 mg of ivy leaves per day).
  • Use in children between 5 and 11 years
    • The recommended dose is 1.8 ml once or twice a day (equivalent to 102-204 mg of ivy leaves per day).
  • Use in children between 1 and 4 years
    • The recommended dose is 1 ml twice a day (equivalent to 113 mg of ivy leaves per day).
  • Use in patients with impaired liver and kidney function
    • There is insufficient data for specific dosage recommendations in the case of impaired liver and/or kidney function.

    • Do not take this medicine for more than a week without medical advice.

 

  • If you take more than you should
    • Please notify your doctor. He can decide on any necessary measures. The side effects listed below may occur more frequently.

 

  • If you forget to take a dose
    • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

  • Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
  • The list includes all known side effects from treatment with dry ivy leaf extract, including those from higher doses or long-term therapy.
  • Side effects with frequency not known (cannot be estimated from the available data):
    • Gastrointestinal complaints (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) may occur in sensitive people. Allergic reactions (shortness of breath, swelling, redness of the skin, itching) may occur after taking medicines containing ivy.
  • If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.

Contraindications

  • The drug must not be taken
    • if you are allergic to ivy leaf dry extract or plants of the Araliaceae family e.g. g. scheffleara or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
    • in children under one year.

    • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
    • This medicine should not be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding as there are insufficient studies.

  • Warnings and Precautions
    • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
    • A doctor should be consulted in the event of fever, shortness of breath, purulent or bloody sputum, as well as complaints that last longer than a week or unclear symptoms. The drug should not be taken together with cough suppressants such as B. codeine or dextromethorphan applied.
    • Patients with inflammation of the gastric mucosa (gastritis) or stomach ulcers require particular caution when taking it, since ivy preparations can cause irritation of the gastric mucosa.
  • children
    • This medicine should not be taken by children under the age of one year.
    • In children 1-4 years of age, repeated or persistent coughing should be diagnosed by a doctor prior to treatment.
