Calendula has been used to treat a variety of ailments affecting the skin as well as infections and fungus. Research suggests that calendula may be effective in treating diaper rash, wounds, vaginal yeast infections, and other skin conditions. Calendula has also been used as a pain reducer and inflammation reducer.

Contraindications:
Calendula essence should not be used if you are hypersensitive to calendula and other composite plants.
Precautions for use and warnings:
Severe reddening of the wound edges, increase in pain, weeping wounds and suppuration require medical treatment.
Mouthwashes should only be used on children under adult supervision.
What do you have to consider during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Like all medicines, calendula essence should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting a doctor.

Dosage and method of administration:
Unless otherwise prescribed, the following applies to adults and children of all ages:
Envelopes:Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of calendula essence to approx. 1/4 l of boiled water, soak a compress with this solution and apply to the affected skin area once or twice a day for approx. 15 minutes.
Mouthwash: Add 1 tablespoon of calendula essence to approx. 1/8 l of warm water and rinse the mouth 1 to 3 times a day for 2 to 3 minutes each time.
Duration of use:
If no clear wound healing can be observed after one week of using the drug, a doctor should be consulted. Irrespective of this, larger wounds and wounds with poor circulation (eg decubital ulcers) in particular require longer-term treatment with calendula essence.
Side effects:
An allergy to calendula (marigold) can occur. The frequency is not known.
