Composition potassium chloride, KALINOR retard P 600 mg hard capsules

: 1 slow-release hard capsule contains: 600 mg potassium chloride, microencapsulated (potassium content 315 mg corresponds to 8 mmol = 8 mval K+).

Areas of potassium chloride, KALINOR retard P 600 mg hard capsules application:

Treatment of potassium deficiencies. Prophylactic use with diuretics that lead to increased potassium excretion.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient: potassium chloride or any of the excipients. The preparation must not be used in diseases that are often associated with hyperkalemia: dehydration, restricted excretory renal function, Addison's disease, adynamia episodica hereditaria, sickle cell anemia, metabolic imbalances in the acidic range, e.g. diabetic acidosis and increased serum potassium levels due to potassium shifts from the intracellular into the extracellular space. If the esophagus or gastrointestinal passage is impaired, the prescription of solid potassium chloride preparations must be carefully considered.

Side effects: Occasionally: heartburn, abdominal pain, diarrhea, belching, nausea/vomiting, flatulence. Rare: hyperkalemia, allergic reactions such as: eczema, itching, rash. In this case, the drug should be discontinued. Very rare: Excessive intake of potassium can lead to cardiac arrhythmia.
