  • Levosol syrup is intended for use in the symptomatic treatment of dry cough. The active substance of the drug, levodropropizine, has an antitussive effect and relieves bronchospasm. The drug is for adults and children over 2 years of age.

Composition of Levosol syrup:

Active substance: levodropropizine (Levodropropizinum). 1ml of syrup contains 6mg of levodropropizine and excipients: sorbitol (E420), propylene glycol (E1520), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), levomenthol; raspberry flavour AR0616 [flavouring ingredients, propylene glycol (E1520)], raspberry flavour AR2103 [flavouring ingredients, triacetin (E1518)], glycerol, sucralose (E955), anhydrous citric acid, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Action Levosol syrup:

Levodropropizine is an active substance that has an antitussive effect and relieves bronchospasm. The indication for the use of the medicinal product Levosol syrup is the symptomatic treatment of dry, non-productive cough. Studies indicate that the preparation effectively suppresses cough of various origins (e.g. in the course of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, in the course of lung cancer, in the case of whooping cough).

 

Application of Levosol syrup:


Levosol syrup is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of non-productive, dry cough. For use in adults and children over 2 years of age.

Additional information:
Store the product out of reach of children, at room temperature. It is recommended to protect from moisture and light. Do not store in the refrigerator. Do not freeze. After opening, use within 28 days. Before starting to use the medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The medicine is intended for the symptomatic treatment of non-productive (dry) cough, it can only be used while waiting for the diagnosis of the cause of the cough and/or the effect of treatment of the disease causing this cough. Use in children and adolescents: do not use in children under 2 years of age. Elderly: caution should be exercised. People with renal impairment: caution should be exercised when using in people with severe renal failure (creatinine clearance < 35 ml / min). Use with other medicines: this should be discussed with your doctor; in particularly sensitive people, caution should be exercised when taking sedatives at the same time. Use with food and drink: it is recommended to use between meals. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: consult your doctor, however, use of the medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding is contraindicated. Driving and operating machinery: rarely the drug may cause drowsiness, caution should be exercised when driving and operating machinery. The drug contains sorbitol (E420) - contains 400mg of sorbitol in 1ml of syrup; sorbitol may affect the bioavailability of other drugs administered orally at the same time; is a source of fructose - before use in people with a known intolerance to some sugars or hereditary fructose intolerance, consult a doctor, however people with hereditary fructose intolerance cannot take this drug. Sorbitol may cause discomfort in the digestive system and may have a mild laxative effect. The drug contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216) - may cause allergic reactions (delayed reactions are possible) and exceptionally bronchospasm. The drug contains sodium - contains less than 1mmol (23mg) of sodium per 30ml of syrup, it can be considered "sodium-free". The medicine contains propylene glycol (E1520) – contains 15mg of propylene glycol (E1520) in each 1ml of syrup.

 

 

Contraindications to the use of Levosol syrup:


Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the drug. Do not use in case of abundant bronchial secretion and dysfunction of the bronchial epithelium cilia (Kartagener syndrome, ciliary dyskinesia). Do not use in children under 2 years of age. Do not use in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

 

 

Side effects of Levosol syrup:


Some people may experience side effects when taking this medicine. Side effects are very rare when taking this medicine, they are usually not serious and the symptoms disappear after stopping treatment, sometimes only requiring specific drug treatment. If the following symptoms occur, treatment should be stopped and medical help should be sought immediately: severe cases of skin reactions (hives, itching) or skin diseases, e.g. those associated with blistering (epidermolysis); uneven heartbeat (risk of atrial bigeminy); allergic/anaphylactic reaction (swelling, shortness of breath, vomiting and diarrhea); hypoglycaemic coma (too low blood sugar). Very rare: hives, erythema, rash, itching, angioedema (swelling usually occurring in the face or throat, which may be life-threatening), skin reactions; stomach pain, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; allergic reactions, including immediate, general malaise; dizziness, balance disorders, tremors, tingling, numbness; palpitations, tachycardia, low blood pressure; irritability, drowsiness, depersonalisation (disturbed perception of oneself and one’s surroundings); shortness of breath, cough, swelling of the respiratory tract mucosa; deficiency or lack of strength (asthenia) and weakness of the lower limbs. Other side effects: glossitis and aphthous stomatitis with fever; inflammation caused by obstruction of the outflow of bile from the liver (cholestatic hepatitis); cases of generalised swelling, fainting and weakness; epileptic seizures (major epileptic seizure, minor epileptic seizure (non-convulsive, so-called petit mal seizure)); dilated pupils and loss of vision – in both cases the symptoms resolved after discontinuation of the drug; cases of eyelid swelling, most of which can be considered angioedema, given the simultaneous occurrence of urticaria; drowsiness, decreased muscle tone and vomiting in the newborn, which is associated with the introduction of levodropropizine into the child's body taken by the breastfeeding mother - the symptoms appeared after feeding and disappeared spontaneously after skipping several feedings (breastfeeding). Using this medicine according to the recommendations given in the patient information leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.

 

Levosol syrup dosage:

Use the medicine according to your doctor's instructions or according to the instructions on the leaflet. Children from 2 years of age, body weight - 10-20kg: 3ml of syrup 3 times a day; body weight 20-30kg: 5ml of syrup 3 times a day. Adults: 10ml of syrup up to 3 times a day. Use orally - the syrup should be used 3 times a day, taken with breaks of at least 6 hours. Measure the syrup with the measuring cup included in the package. Duration of treatment: unless the doctor recommends otherwise, the treatment should be continued until the cough subsides. If symptoms do not subside or worsen within 7 days, consult a doctor. Do not use for longer than 7 days without consulting a doctor.
