Ketoconazole : The active ingredient, an antifungal that is effective against the fungus Malassezia furfur, which is responsible for many cases of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis.
Dexpanthenol : Also included as a nourishing excipient - Known for its skin-soothing properties and contributes to the regeneration of the scalp.
Causes & Risk Factors of Dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis
Seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff are often caused by an overproduction of skin oil (sebum) and the presence of the fungus Malassezia fufur. Risk factors such as hormonal fluctuations, stress and genetic predisposition can also influence these conditions. Environmental influences such as cold weather and dry heated air can also aggravate symptoms.
Overview of causes:
• Increased sebum production
• Fungal infection (mainly Malassezia furfur)
• Genetic factors and stress
• Environmental influences
Recognizing and understanding the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis
Typical symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff include:
• Oily dandruff that is white to yellowish
• Red, inflamed areas of skin
• Itchy scalp
Washing your hair too often can lead to dandruff
Washing your hair every day is not necessary and can strain the scalp. The skin's natural protective film is removed by frequent washing, which stimulates the skin to produce more sebum. If you reduce the frequency of hair washing, the skin can adjust and reduce sebum production. At first, the hair may appear a little greasier, but this normalizes over time.
Recommended use
For use in adults, including the elderly, and adolescents.
1. Wet hair and scalp thoroughly with water.
2. Use a walnut-sized amount of shampoo.
3. Massage the shampoo all over the scalp and leave for 3 - 5 minutes
. 4. Then rinse thoroughly.
If necessary, a mild shampoo, such as Physiogel Scalp Care Extra Mild Shampoo, can be used between applications of KETOconazol Klinge® 20 mg/g Shampoo.
