Omega-3 marine lipid concentrate
The British biochemist Hugh Sinclair discovered fish oils in the 1940s on a research trip to Greenland. Since this discovery, fish oils and thus the essential fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) - also known as omega-3 fatty acids - have been the trigger for thousands of studies and clinical trials.
Although the beneficial properties of oils from marine fish are well known, few people understand what they are, what they do and how to adequately cover the needs. According to a recommendation from the German Society for Nutrition, the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids should be 5:1, but in reality it is usually 8:1 or higher. The reason for this is the large proportion of omega-6 fatty acids in our diet. Oily fish and cod liver oil (cod liver oil) are the richest and most easily absorbed forms of omega-3.
Other species, such as krill (small crustaceans), or fortified foods such as bread, are only produced in small quantities worldwide. EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart function. This beneficial effect is achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg EPA and DHA. DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and to the maintenance of normal vision. These beneficial effects are achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA. Replacing saturated fatty acids with monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fatty acids in the diet helps to maintain normal blood cholesterol levels.
infancy and early childhood
During the last three months of pregnancy, the brain and nervous system of the embryo begin to accumulate DHA, one of the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil. 60% of the human brain is made up of fatty acids, of which 25% is DHA. Before birth, the fetus gets the DHA it needs from the mother, so it is important that the mother consumes plenty of omega-3 fatty acids in her diet at this time. If the mother's diet does not provide enough DHA, the mother's body reserves are automatically used. After birth, the baby gets DHA from breast milk.
omega-3 fatty acids
Omega-3 fatty acids are mainly obtained from cold-water fish. Mackerel, for example, is a positive example, as it contains large amounts of EPA & DHA. A negative example, however, is salmon from fish farms that are fattened with industrial feed. SunSplash EPA-DHA Power is produced, distilled and filtered from cold-water fish according to the highest quality standards.
